Heavy Industry Mechanical Coordinator

The Mechanical Coordinator will oversee and coordinate the mechanical maintenance activities to ensure the smooth operation of all equipment and machinery on site. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mechanical systems within a mining environment and a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and compliance.

About the Role:

This role will lead and manage the mechanical maintenance team to ensure optimal operation and reliability of mining equipment and machinery. Key responsibilities include coordinating preventative maintenance, repairs, and emergency breakdown responses, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and operational procedures, collaborating with other departments to ensure seamless operational continuity, and assisting with procurement and inventory management of parts and tools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the mechanical maintenance team
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance, repairs, and emergency breakdown responses
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and operational procedures
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operational continuity
  • Assist with procurement and inventory management of parts and tools
Requirements:

The successful candidate will possess a trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter or equivalent qualification, significant experience in mechanical maintenance within the mining or heavy industry sector, strong knowledge of mining equipment including crushers, conveyors, and excavators, proven leadership experience with the ability to manage teams effectively, exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to high standards of safety, environmental practices, and quality control.

Qualifications:
  • Mechanical Trade Qualification (Fitter or equivalent)
  • Relevant certificates in safety and mining operations
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will be required to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with regular exposure to heavy machinery and equipment. A strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures is essential to ensuring a safe working environment for both the individual and their colleagues.
