
Senior Satellite Communication Engineer

Viasat is on a mission to deliver connections that change the world.
We are looking for individuals who can work with satellite earth station operations, RF/microwave electronics and monitor control system software. You will be challenged every day as you coordinate tracking antennas, RF systems and lead projects on the systems.
Responsibilities- You will respond to alarms, document issues and resolutions in the ticketing system.
- You will remotely work with vendors on all troubleshooting, resolution and improvement activities.
- You will coordinate with vendors who install RF devices.
- You will create and maintain gateway related method & procedure (M&P) and runbook documentation.
- You will dissect complex issues by bringing together schematics, automated data and resources.
- You will manage or provide support for projects associated with maintaining diverse gateway networks.
- You will provide after-hours and weekend on-call support for AU systems.
- You need 2 year Associate Degree or equivalent in RF Communications.
- You must have 5+ years experience running gateway uplink antenna systems, earth stations or similar projects.
- You should have experience maintaining satellite or terrestrial microwave earth stations.
- You should have experience using RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers and signal generators.
- You should have experience mentoring and leading individuals in RF space.
- You must be able to perform 24x7 on-call support on a rotating basis.
- You must be able to lift 11.3 kg.
- You must be authorized to work in Australia.
- Working knowledge of IP encryption devices, Ka/Ku band RF equipment and communications theory.
- Experience with Monitor and Control System software.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Project management skills.
- Network system support and troubleshooting experience.
- Experience working in ticketing systems.
