Junior Immigration Lawyer Job Description

Our law firm is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Immigration Lawyer to join our Sydney office. As a key member of our team, you will gain hands-on experience in every aspect of immigration law, from employer-sponsored visas to complex tribunal matters.

The ideal candidate will bring a client-focused approach, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to providing high-quality legal services. You will work closely with a senior immigration lawyer, learning firsthand how to handle challenging and high-value cases.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with typical transactional cases, including visa applications, appeals, ministerial intervention requests, and other strategic immigration matters.
  • Prepare submissions, legal arguments, and supporting documentation for clients.
  • Attend hearings, client meetings, and consultations, gaining exposure to a wide variety of cases.
  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on Australian immigration law and policy changes.
  • Develop strong client relationships, providing professional and empathetic legal assistance.

Requirements:

  • Candidates who have completed their legal studies and are ready to take on a full-time legal role are preferred.
  • Candidates with experience in Australian immigration law are preferred.
  • Must have full work rights if a temporary visa holder. We may offer employer sponsorship.
  • Strong legal research and drafting skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, handling multiple cases simultaneously.
  • A passion for immigration law and a genuine commitment to helping clients navigate complex legal processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise with clients from diverse backgrounds.
