
Respiratory Care Specialist

This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the community by providing support in the development and implementation of effective respiratory services. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reducing emergency department presentations, hospital admissions, and length of stay for patients with respiratory conditions.
- Reduce emergency department presentations and hospital admissions for clients with respiratory conditions by delivering timely and effective care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to reduce length of stay for patients with respiratory illness admitted to hospitals.
- Develop and implement strategies for the transfer of respiratory patients from health services to their community or residence.
- Facilitate the effective use of health services by vulnerable groups through education and self-management programs.
- Support the education, self-management, and pulmonary rehabilitation of participants to best manage their health condition.
- Deliver the SA Health Home Oxygen Program, including assessment, care planning, evaluation, and review.
- You must be a registered Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold a current practicing certificate.
- At least 3 years full time equivalent post registration experience is required.
- Demonstrated competence in nursing practice is essential, along with effective communication skills, including problem solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.
- You will work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, prioritizing workloads, being creative, innovative, and flexible when approaching issues within the clinical setting.
- Experience working with Aboriginal consumers and communities to provide culturally appropriate health services is highly regarded.
- Possessing an understanding of Aboriginal culture and the ability to develop this knowledge within your team is essential.
- Leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses, and less experienced registered nurses are also expected.
