Electrical Engineer Job Opportunity

Shape Your World with a Cutting-edge Role in PLC Engineering.

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Australian Asset Management team and be part of the Alumina Refining PLC Obsolescence Project, one of the largest technology projects at Alcoa. The project spans over 8 years across all refining sites in Australia, Brazil and Spain, modernising Alcoa's large PLC Control System and communications network infrastructure as part of our alignment with a Digital future.

The successful candidate will play a key role in automation inventory management including management of decommissioned PLC hardware, management of WAO Refining automation technology roadmap, management of on-site automation support personnel, automation supplier contract management as it relates to PLC Modernisation, Technical Support and Parts Management agreement, subject matter expert for on-site and project related technical queries and cybersecurity and risk management PLC compliance for WA refining.

  • Automation Inventory Management:

    This includes management of decommissioned PLC hardware.

  • Management of WAO Refining Automation Technology Roadmap:

    Develop and implement strategies to improve automation processes and reduce costs.

  • Management of On-Site Automation Support Personnel:

    Supervise and train automation support staff to ensure they have the necessary skills to perform their duties effectively.

  • Automation Supplier Contract Management:

    Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality of automation equipment.

  • Subject Matter Expert:

    Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues and stakeholders on automation-related issues.

  • Cybersecurity and Risk Management:

    Ensure the security and integrity of PLC systems and networks by implementing appropriate controls and procedures.

About You

Requirements:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Electrical Engineering or a related field are essential.

  • Extensive experience in electrical engineering and automation is highly desirable.

  • Hands-on experience with Allen Bradley's PLC and familiarity with modern day Fibre-Ethernet networks such as Ethernet/IP are required.

  • Preferably has experience in Capital Project execution.
