**Role Overview:**

We are seeking a skilled Strategic Communications Specialist to lead our public relations initiatives and elevate our brand presence.

As a key member of our team, you will develop and implement strategic communications plans, manage end-to-end PR campaigns, and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Your primary responsibility will be to foster strong connections with key media, stakeholders, and the community, ensuring our messaging reflects the impactful work we do for people with low vision or blindness.

This role requires a proactive, highly organised professional with exceptional media relations skills, a passion for storytelling, and a strong strategic mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategic communications plans that align with our organisational goals.
  • Manage end-to-end PR campaigns, including media relations, content creation, and campaign collaboration.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key media, stakeholders, and the community.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure cohesive messaging.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in communications and public relations.

**Required Skills and Qualifications:**

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in PR roles, ideally within the nonprofit, health, or community services sector.
  • A degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear, compelling narratives.
  • Established relationships within the media landscape, particularly in Victoria, with a proven record of securing impactful media coverage.
  • A solutions-focused approach to challenges and a genuine interest in supporting people with low vision or blindness.
