We are seeking a skilled Strategic Communications Specialist to develop and execute effective communications strategies. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for creating and publishing high-quality social media content across multiple channels, aligned with our department's objectives.

About the Role

This is a 3-month full-time contract position based in Melbourne CBD. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing external communication strategies and engagement activities that meet quality standards and timelines.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Develop and implement strategic communications plans that engage our audience and promote our campaigns.
  • Collaborate with our Media and Communications teams to create, deliver, and publish content across all social platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to promote campaigns, announcements, projects, research, and initiatives through creative social media content.
  • Contribute to the social media team's content planning by regularly reviewing the content calendar to identify opportunities.
  • Monitor our social media channels and provide daily reporting to the division.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated understanding of strategic communications and social media as part of a wider communication campaign.
  • Experience preparing social media content to foster audience growth and engagement.
  • Ability to report on and interpret social media analytics and understand trends to foster organic growth.
  • Sound written communication skills adaptable to different audiences.
  • Flair for writing social media copy including creative ideation.
  • Understanding of the importance of proofreading and attention to detail for social media.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Communications, Digital communications, Social Media, or equivalent experience gained from working in a government environment.
