The Role:

Ventia is currently seeking a highly skilled SHEQ professional to lead the implementation of Safety, Health and Environment, and Quality practices on an upcoming project.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all aspects of the Contract are executed in compliance with Australian Standards and relevant legislation/regulations, fostering a Safe Working Culture within the Operations team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective procedures and practices aligned with Australian Standards and relevant legislation/regulations.
  • Lead the Safety and Environment Team to provide efficient and effective Safety and Environmental Management.
  • Evaluate all activities on the project to ensure they are conducted in a safe manner, adhering to suitable frameworks and documentation as per legislation and regulations.
  • Conduct investigations into Safety-related incidents or issues, providing recommendations to Operations.
  • Maintain a proactive approach to promoting a 'Safe Working Culture' on the Contract through engagement and education of leaders and the workforce.
  • Cultivate a positive team culture within the Operations team by instilling a can-do attitude.
  • Oversee employee rehabilitation, including Return to Work planning.
  • Manage record-keeping for Safety, Health, and Environment activities effectively.
  • Escalate and report incidents/issues as per Ventia's framework.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, escalating/reporting issues as per agreed frameworks.
  • Regularly review Safety Reporting, identifying areas of increased incident/risk and providing solutions/recommendations to the Project Manager to address.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in Workplace/Occupation Health and Safety, Environmental, or Quality equivalent.
  • Formal training in incident investigation.
  • Management Systems and Lead Auditor qualifications.

Technical Competencies:

  • Suitable experience as a safety professional in industrial safety, possessing required technical skills and knowledge to perform the role.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and a positive team culture.
  • Experience in managing safety audit programs to ensure system compliance.
  • Ability to implement and manage a collaborative workplace culture.
