
Equality Specialist

This is an advisory job where you will be responsible for leading on equality issues in a correctional facility. Your primary objective will be to ensure compliance with legislation and provide strategic advice to senior management.
Key Responsibilities- Equality Impact Assessments
You will be required to ensure that Equality Impact Assessments are completed effectively, a program of assessments is implemented, and equality monitoring data is disseminated with agreed actions to eliminate any unlawful discrimination.
Annual Equality PlanYou will develop and manage the annual Equality Plan, outlining how the establishment will address opportunities and issues related to equality.
Equality CommitteeYou will contribute to the establishment's Equality Committee, promoting employee engagement in the equality agenda, taking a lead in activities, writing and presenting reports, and addressing issues raised.
Equality AuditsYou will conduct equality-related audits and report findings to the Senior Management Team.
Diversity TrainingYou will ensure that all staff, agency workers, and volunteers receive equality training, and prisoners receive an equality induction and appropriate training according to their sentence plan.
DIRF ProcessYou will manage the Diversity Incident Reporting Form (DIRF) process, undertaking other advisor tasks, including acting as the subject matter Lead advisor and managing staff within your area.
Requirements- Essential Experience
Able to deal effectively and assertively with staff at all levels, proficient user of MS Word and MS Excel, information collation and analysis.
Technical RequirementsMust complete specific training to hold qualifications required for area of specialism outlined on the Job Description.
