
Contract Negotiations Specialist

We are seeking a skilled contracts specialist to join our team. This part-time role will support the business with all commercial contract-related matters, assist with administrative tasks, and provide valuable legal and commercial guidance.
Key Responsibilities:- Work with our leadership team on all commercial contract matters, identifying areas for improvement and driving efficiency into the contracting process.
- Manage commercial contract negotiations, contract management, and improve commercial processes.
- Negotiate with clients, liaising with internal sales and accounts teams.
- Draft commercial contracts and update/create contract templates when necessary.
- Negotiate with suppliers and liaise with internal business stakeholders to ensure contracts accurately reflect the business needs.
- Review and adapt privacy policies and data protection agreements to align with Australian legal and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure privacy compliance is addressed in existing client contracts.
- Support revenue teams in handling privacy-related enquiries, ensuring compliance with Australian data protection laws during new business acquisition and renewal negotiations.
- Contribute to the development and/or maintenance of training programs for colleagues and participate in delivery of internal training.
- Flag new legal developments and consider their impact on the business.
- Research various multi-jurisdictional legal issues.
- Either a senior Paralegal with significant experience as a contracts negotiator or a Commercial Lawyer with 2-3 years post-qualification experience.
- Proven experience in managing, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts, including client and supplier agreements.
- Strong understanding of Australian contract law and its application in a commercial setting.
- Strong understanding of Australian privacy laws and data protection regulations, with experience advising on legal risks, drafting policies, and ensuring compliance in commercial agreements.
- Ability to identify legal risks and develop pragmatic, business-aligned solutions that balance commercial objectives with risk mitigation.
- Skilled in managing contract negotiations, including privacy-related matters, particularly for enterprise client onboarding and renewals.
- Strong ability to work across leadership, sales, and operational teams, effectively communicating legal concepts to non-legal internal and client stakeholders.
- Experience with optimising legal processes, including contract management, compliance systems, and template development to drive efficiency.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects, ensuring accuracy, attention to detail, and timely execution.
