
Leading Laboratory Professional

The role of the Laboratory Manager is to oversee the daily operations of a mining laboratory environment, ensuring all processes are executed efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations including monthly costings, invoicing, maintenance of consumable stock levels, and equipment maintenance and calibrations.
- Conduct QHSE training and toolbox talks as required, and coordinate and manage workflow to meet customers' expectations.
- Plan, write, and deliver training programs for employees, trainees, and lower technical levels.
- Perform and supervise routine test work within set guidelines and priorities, and be the main liaison with existing clients to ensure client expectations are maintained.
- Supervise and lead a team, maintain/update work/accommodation rosters, support and drive the team to achieve daily production targets, and assist in on-the-job training of your team.
Requirements:
- In-depth knowledge of ISO 17025.
- A good working knowledge of laboratory procedures and sampling techniques.
- Understanding and implementation of quality control/assurance procedures and occupational, health, safety, and environmental principles and procedures.
- Ability to manage a large number of staff, proactively manage staff in a 'hands-on' manner, and demonstrate ability to organize structured competency-based training programs.
- Ability to work unsupervised either individually or in a team environment, work under pressure, prioritize work, motivate others to achieve desired outcomes, and possess proven organizational skills.
