
Intensive Care Unit Doctor

Main purpose of the position is to provide effective medical services under supervision in a complex clinical environment.
Key Accountabilities:- Coordinating patient admissions, management and discharge planning in Intensive Care unit.
- Ensuring patient admission and plans are documented in medical records.
- Day-to-day assessment and management of patients, communicating with them and their families about condition and treatment.
- Communicating and coordinating care with team members, arranging consultations as needed, then discharging patients and liaising with local medical officers and community-based care modalities.
- Making decisions concerning patients in consultation with immediate supervisor.
The successful applicant will work as a Senior Resident Medical Officer in Intensive Care unit, managing patients in a semi-autonomous manner with some supervision from Specialists. The role involves documenting patient care to minimum medico-legal standard, as set out by policy.

- Completing comprehensive patient history, obtaining it from patient and relevant sources.
- Documenting full patient history and physical examination in progress notes.
- Legible, accurate and signed progress notes must be written daily and particularly after ward rounds.
- Formulating management plan for all patients in consultation with Senior Medical Staff.
- Ensuring appropriate investigations are ordered and followed up, and management plan is altered accordingly.
- Showing commitment to effective handover of patients.
- Designing and communicating discharge plan containing accurate history of patient admission and clearly identified management plan.
- Being first on call for assessment and treatment of patients during the day.
- Liaising for advice and help with supervising medical staff.
