Job Overview

The primary purpose of this role is to provide effective medical services to patients under supervision in a complex clinical environment. The key accountability includes coordinating the admission, management, and discharge planning of patients seen in or admitted to the Intensive Care unit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Co-ordinate patient admissions, management, and discharge planning in collaboration with senior medical staff.
  • Document all patient care activities in accordance with Bathurst Hospital's medico-legal standards.
  • Provide day-to-day assessment and management of patients in the Intensive Care unit, communicating effectively with them and their families regarding their condition and treatment.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, arranging consultations with other staff members when necessary, and liaising with local medical officers and community-based care modalities.
  • Make decisions concerning patients in consultation with their immediate supervisor, adhering to Bathurst Hospital's policies and procedures.

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Medical degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Capacity for critical thinking and problem-solving.
