Foxleigh Mine is a coal operation located in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, producing premium PCI metallurgical coal for steel manufacturing. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with results-driven focus to drive environmental outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement biodiversity offset management plans and conservation rehabilitation projects to minimize ecological impact.
  • Liaise with government bodies to ensure compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Manage cultural heritage sites, respecting indigenous traditions and preserving historical significance.
  • Develop and implement progressive rehabilitation and closure plans to meet schedule commitments, ensuring a safe and sustainable environment.
  • Oversee consultants and contractors to maintain environmental compliance, tracking progress through GIS and database platforms.
  • Design and track annual environmental calendars, prioritizing stakeholder engagement and transparency.
  • Provide expert advice on mine rehabilitation, contract management, and regulatory compliance, driving best practices within the industry.
  • Monitor groundwater and surface water quality, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective measures.
  • Mentor and train an environmental graduate, fostering knowledge sharing and professional development.

Requirements:

  • Hold a tertiary qualification in environmental science or engineering.
  • Proven experience in site-based roles, demonstrating expertise in key environmental functions and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate effectively, focusing on achieving outcomes that balance business needs with environmental stewardship.
  • Experience managing contractors and implementing rehabilitation works, ensuring high-quality results and efficient project delivery.
