Role Overview

The Youth Engagement Specialist is responsible for providing customized case management services to young individuals who may be at risk of family disconnection, educational disengagement, homelessness, or other forms of harm. This role involves effective interaction with youth, their families, and support networks to assess needs and aspirations, while developing and overseeing a personalized plan driven by the young person.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored support and interventions aligned with the program's care model.
  • Engage in high-quality, intent-driven practices during all client interactions, reflecting the values and vision of ATSICHS.
  • Maintain comprehensive case management practices and documentation that comply with operational standards.
  • Utilize a proactive outreach approach to foster positive engagement with clients.
  • Facilitate client-led assessments and care plans that identify goals, including family involvement when appropriate.
  • Conduct targeted interventions and facilitate group meetings to support clients in achieving their objectives.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Social Science, Health, Allied Health, Youth Work, Community Services, Family Intervention, or Criminology, accompanied by four years of relevant experience in family support, child protection, youth support, or a related field.

OR

  • A Diploma in Community Services, Social Work, Human Services, Child and Family, Allied Health, Youth Work, or Child and Family Intervention, with five years of relevant experience in family support, child protection, youth support, or a related field.

AND

At least three years of experience in a case management capacity.

  • Proven ability to work in a performance-oriented environment to meet individual targets.
  • Demonstrated capacity to empower clients and facilitate change while minimizing dependency on services.
  • Experience in providing behavior change interventions that enhance client self-awareness and goal achievement.
  • Ability to engage with the entire family unit to address comprehensive family needs.
  • Experience in coordinating multiple services to ensure holistic care for clients, integrating internal agency resources across teams.
  • Understanding of the factors contributing to vulnerability, disengagement, and intergenerational trauma.
  • Experience managing high-risk or crisis clients, with strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of available support services in mental health, substance misuse, education, employment, and housing.

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to travel across designated regions as required by the program.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Flexibility to work outside standard business hours to meet client needs.
  • Possession of a Working with Children Card (Blue Card) or eligibility to apply.
