Position Overview

The Youth Engagement Specialist is responsible for providing customized case management services to young individuals facing challenges such as family disconnection, educational disengagement, homelessness, or potential harm. This role involves engaging effectively with youth, their families, and support networks to assess needs and aspirations, while developing and implementing a youth-led action plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored support and interventions aligned with the program's care model.
  • Ensure high-quality, intent-driven interactions with clients, reflecting the values and vision of ATSICHS.
  • Maintain exemplary case management practices and documentation that comply with operational standards.
  • Utilize a proactive outreach approach to foster positive engagement with clients.
  • Conduct client-led assessments and develop Care Plans that incorporate the goals of the entire family, when appropriate.
  • Facilitate targeted interventions and group meetings to support clients in achieving their objectives.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Social Science, Health, Allied Health, Youth Work, Community Services, Family Intervention, or Criminology, accompanied by 4 years of relevant experience in family support, child protection, youth support, or a related field.

OR

  • A Diploma in Community Services, Social Work, Human Services, Child and Family, Allied Health, Youth Work, or Child and Family Intervention, with 5 years of relevant experience in family support, child protection, youth support, or a related field.

AND

At least 3 years of experience in a case management role.

  • Proven ability to thrive in a performance-oriented environment, meeting individual and team targets.
  • Experience in empowering clients to build agency and self-efficacy while promoting independence.
  • Knowledge of behavior change strategies that enhance client self-awareness and facilitate goal achievement.
  • Ability to engage with the entire family unit to address comprehensive family needs.
  • Expertise in coordinating multiple services to provide holistic care, integrating internal agency resources.
  • Understanding of the factors contributing to vulnerability, disengagement, and intergenerational trauma.
  • Experience managing high-risk or crisis situations, demonstrating strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with available support services in mental health, substance misuse, education, employment, and housing.

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to travel across the Logan and/or Brisbane region as needed.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Flexibility to work outside standard business hours to meet client needs.
  • Possession of a Working with Children Card (Blue Card) or eligibility to apply.
