We are seeking a skilled Community Engagement Officer to join our team at headspace Cairns. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in planning, developing, and implementing education and health promotion activities to raise mental health awareness among young people.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a range of education and health promotion activities to increase mental health literacy and awareness among young people.
- Work closely with our clinical team to understand the services provided by headspace and advocate for our services to young people and the wider community.
- Recruit, train, and supervise young people to be involved in the headspace Centre as part of the Youth Reference Group.
- Assist in maintaining websites, utilizing social media, and developing promotional materials to promote headspace services.
- Represent headspace to various agencies, professional networks, and the local community.
- Diploma-level qualification in youth work, mental health, health promotion, education, or community engagement.
- Minimum of 12 months working with young people.
- Experience in planning, development, and delivery of high-quality education, training, and community awareness programs and activities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based youth-focused intervention frameworks.
- High level of culturally appropriate interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Experience and knowledge of community engagement and awareness principles, including those relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and their communities.
- Demonstrated skills in website management, social media, and publishing software.
- Current Driver's License and willingness to travel as required.
- Current Blue Card.
- Competitive base salary of up to $70,000 + superannuation.
