Role Overview

The Youth Engagement Specialist is responsible for providing customized case management services to young individuals facing challenges such as family disconnection, educational disengagement, homelessness, or potential harm. This role involves actively engaging with youth, their families, and support networks to assess needs and aspirations, developing and implementing a personalized plan led by the youth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored support and interventions aligned with the program's care model.
  • Maintain high standards of practice in all client interactions, reflecting the values and vision of ATSICHS.
  • Ensure meticulous case management and documentation that complies with operational guidelines.
  • Utilize a warm and proactive outreach approach to engage clients effectively.
  • Conduct client-led assessments and develop Care Plans that encompass the goals of the individual and their family.
  • Facilitate targeted interventions and group meetings aimed at achieving client objectives.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Social Science, Health, Allied Health, Youth Work, Community Services, Family Intervention, or Criminology, accompanied by four years of relevant experience in family support, child protection, youth support, or a related field.

OR

  • A Diploma in Community Services, Social Work, Human Services, Child and Family, Allied Health, Youth Work, or Child and Family Intervention, with five years of relevant experience in family support, child protection, youth support, or a related field.

AND

A minimum of three years of experience in a case management capacity.

  • Proven ability to work in a performance-driven environment, meeting individual performance targets.
  • Experience in empowering clients to foster self-efficacy and facilitate positive change while minimizing dependency on support services.
  • Knowledge of behavior change interventions that enhance client self-awareness and goal achievement.
  • Ability to work with families holistically, addressing the needs of all family members.
  • Experience in coordinating multiple services to provide comprehensive care for clients, integrating internal agency resources across teams.
  • Understanding of the factors contributing to vulnerability, disengagement, and intergenerational trauma within the client population.
  • Experience in case management for high-risk or crisis clients, demonstrating strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with available support services in mental health, substance misuse, education, employment, and housing.

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to travel across the designated regions as required by the program.
  • Possession of a current driver's license.
  • Flexibility to work outside standard business hours to meet client needs.
  • Possession of a Working with Children Card (Blue Card) or eligibility to apply.
