Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Investigations team in Sydney's CBD.

About the Role:
  • This position will supervise a small legal team responsible for investigating and resolving complaints against solicitors under Chapters 3 and 5 of the Legal Profession Uniform Law 2015 NSW, including reporting to the Professional Conduct Committee.
About the Team:
  • The Professional Standards Division (PSD) investigates complaints about solicitors and unqualified persons referred to it by the Legal Services Commissioner or made by the Professional Conduct Committee or the Director of the Department under the delegated power.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of investigators in managing and resolving complaints under the Legal Profession uniform Law, including advising and assisting team members on individual matters, managing overall team resources, reviewing and monitoring team functions, and performance appraisals of team members.
  • Conduct expeditious analysis and investigation of disclosures by and complaints against solicitors, drafting relevant notices, examining and investigating, research, report and make recommendations.
  • Liaison with complainants, solicitors, Professional Conduct Committee, Council, Legal Services Commissioner and his staff.
About You:
  • Legal qualifications with extensive relevant legal experience.
  • Admission as a lawyer and holding or eligible to hold a practising certificate.
  • Supervisory experience will be highly regarded.
