Duration : 3 roles – 1 x ongoing, 2 x Temporary for up to 6 months
Location : Parramatta 2 – 3 days per week, with other locations considered and hybrid and flexible working conditions available.

About the role
NSW Fair Trading is seeking motivated and passionate individuals eager to make a difference for residents in strata, retirement villages, and residential land lease communities.
As part of the new Strata and Property Taskforce, we are recruiting for new roles within our Investigations team. These positions will help us protect consumers, uphold professional standards among over 60,000 operators, and restore confidence in the property sector.
We welcome applicants with a passion for fact-finding and problem-solving, including those with investigative experience in various fields such as regulation, law enforcement, insurance, audit, forensic accounting, or investigative journalism.
About the team
We have an opportunity within NSW Fair Trading's Strata & Property Services Investigations Unit for an experienced senior investigator.
Reporting to a Principal Investigator, your work will primarily involve investigating offences under the Property Stock and Agents Act 2002 and Strata Scheme Management Act 2015. You will manage your own investigations and collaborate with your team on evidence gathering and related tasks.

- Lead investigations into property and strata-related offences
- Gather and analyze evidence to facilitate fair outcomes
- Resolve complex disputes and enforce compliance
- Engage with stakeholders to ensure transparency and accountability
- Operate within a fast-paced environment committed to integrity and justice
To be successful in this role, you will :
Have investigative expertise with experience in conducting thorough investigationsPossess regulatory knowledge of relevant legislation, compliance, and enforcementDemonstrate critical thinking with strong analytical and decision-making skillsBe skilled in communication and negotiation to engage diverse stakeholdersRemain calm, impartial, and focused under pressureBe willing to travel within NSW with minimal noticeMust-Haves :
Certificate IV in Government Investigations or equivalent experience (willingness to obtain through employer-sponsored program)Strong understanding of investigative processes, rules of evidence, and brief preparationA current Australian driver's license and willingness to travel as requiredExperience in people managementApplication Requirements :
