Job Description:

The site safety manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the health, safety, and environmental well-being of all personnel on project sites. This involves adhering to relevant health, safety and environmental standards, federal, state, and local laws, as well as contractual client requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting daily site observations to ensure compliance with company, customer, and regulatory safety standards.
  • Identifying potential hazards and implementing measures to mitigate risks, thereby promoting safe work practices throughout the project duration.

Specific tasks involve:

  • Performing atmospheric testing using precision meters, ensuring proper calibration, recording, and storage of data.
  • Monitoring and managing safety equipment usage, including proper handling and storage.
    • Investigating incidents and accidents, documenting findings, root causes, and corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
    • Managing safety permits, such as hot work, confined spaces, and scaffolding, to ensure accurate management, up-to-date records, and full compliance.
    • Maintaining safety documentation to meet audit and regulatory standards.
    • Supporting sustainable safety practices, aligning them with both safety and environmental goals.
    • Responding promptly to site safety needs and concerns, aligning with client safety requirements and expectations.
    • Effective communication with subcontractors, site workers, and clients to foster a culture of safety excellence.
    • Collaborating with the Project Site Safety Manager and site personnel for effective safety coordination and compliance.
    • Facilitating cooperation among site workers, subcontractors, and other teams to enhance overall project safety.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction site safety management or related field.
  • Current CHST certification.
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification.
  • First Aid/CPR Current Certification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
