Australian Energy Market Operator is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Communications Advisor to join its team in supporting the VNI West transmission project.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in guiding and executing strategic communications on the project, ensuring excellent outcomes in community engagement, media/social media, key stakeholder engagement, and reputation management.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a professional with a strong background in stakeholder relations and/or communications to contribute to the success of AEMO's mission.

About the Role
  • Develop and implement strategic communications plans, including key messages and tactics, to support project objectives and specific issues, events, and milestones.
  • Craft compelling content, such as fact sheets, FAQs, website copy, reports, project updates, presentation materials, media releases, and social media posts, to effectively communicate with various stakeholders.
  • Liaise with media outlets, journalists, and editors to address project-related queries and develop responses for approval.
  • Prepare and brief project spokespersons in advance of media engagements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field, such as journalism, stakeholder relations, or communications.
  • At least 10 years of experience in stakeholder relations and/or communications, with a proven track record of delivering effective communication strategies.
  • Strong writing, editing, and communications skills, including the ability to write for various purposes, channels, and audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex information and communicate it simply.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, negotiation, and influencing skills, with sound professional judgment.
