Forensic Analyst

The selected candidate will be part of a forensic services department, providing laboratory support to law enforcement and the public. The Botany Unit is responsible for examining plant material, offering scientific expertise, education, and research.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the examination and identification of casework using established procedures.
- Attending crime scenes under direction to recover evidence and samples.
- Maintaining continuity of exhibits using a laboratory information management system.
- Conducting quality controls within the work area and recording results where necessary.
Additional duties include:
- Processing cases and preparing relevant files for investigators.
- Operating and maintaining existing systems and processes, including technical equipment.
- Presenting factual evidence in courts as required.
- Providing administrative assistance, including responding to customer inquiries and record-keeping.
Desirable qualifications include a relevant tertiary degree with a focus on botany and experience in plant examination and identification.
