
Strategic Surgery Reform Specialist

The Surgical Reform Lead will be responsible for spearheading and implementing strategic surgery reform initiatives at a reputable healthcare institution. The primary objective of these initiatives is to enhance referral and waitlist management practices, fortify surgical programs and non-surgical pathways, minimize length of stay and readmissions rates for surgical patients, and optimize total theatre capacity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive surgery reform strategies, including identifying opportunities for increasing activity, optimizing theatre capacity, aligning best practice guidelines, improving referral and waitlist management practices, and strengthening validation processes.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including the North Eastern Metro Health Services Partnership.
- Utilize quality improvement and project management methodologies to achieve significant and sustainable change.
- Monitor and oversee the performance of the surgery reform projects.
- Facilitate agile and effective decision making.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders, including Perioperative Nurse Unit Managers, Surgical Access Teams, Medical Heads, and leadership to implement surgical reforms.
Requirements:
- Exceptional clinical, time management, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve.
- A compassionate, flexible, and positive approach to delivering high-quality patient care and management.
- The ability to foster friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
- Current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
- Current COVID-19 certificate, proof of current influenza vaccination, and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
