About the opportunity

Mercy Hospital for Women (MHW) have identified a number of initiatives to assist with the reform of planned surgery. These initiatives are aimed at improving the referral and waitlist management practices, strengthening surgical programs and non-surgical pathways, reducing length of stay and readmissions rates for surgical patients and optimising our total theatre capacity.

The Surgical Reform Lead will include, but not be limited to:
- Lead and implement planned surgery reform, such as identifying opportunities for increasing activity, optimising theatre capacity, aligning best practice guidelines, improving referral and waitlist management practices and strengthening validation processes;- Work in collaboration with the North Eastern Metro Health Services Partnership.- Utilise quality improvement and project management methodology to achieve substantial and sustainable change.- Oversee and monitor the performance of the planned surgery reform projects- Coordinate and facilitate agile and effective decision making- Work collaboratively with the Perioperative Nurse Unit Manager, Surgical Access Team, Medical Heads and MHW Leadership to implement surgical reforms.

This role will include team leadership, comprehensive upward reporting, project management, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, engagement with external organisations, data collection and analysis, risk identification and mitigation throughout all stages of the project and in day to day working.
