As part of a multidisciplinary approach to care, this role will work collaboratively with mental health and emergency teams to provide high acuity support to patients presenting with complex psychosocial needs. The Senior Addiction Clinician will lead the integration of clinical expertise across these services, ensuring seamless communication and decision-making.

Job Description

The Snr. AOD Clinician will be responsible for assessing and intervening in cases where clients present with dual diagnosis or co-occurring MH&AOD issues. This will involve conducting comprehensive assessments, developing treatment plans, and providing specialist advice to other clinicians and healthcare professionals.

The role requires strong leadership skills, with the ability to guide and direct other team members in making high-level clinical decisions. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced environment.

  • Conduct thorough assessments of clients' MH&AOD needs, including substance use history, mental health status, and psychosocial factors.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, incorporating evidence-based interventions and collateral care pathways as necessary.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to other clinicians and healthcare professionals on MH&AOD matters.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must possess:

  • A degree in Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years experience working in an AOD setting, preferably in a leadership or senior clinician capacity.
  • Excellent knowledge of Victorian AOD service sector policies and procedures.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Capacity to work effectively under pressure and prioritize tasks efficiently.
