We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team in the Department of Addiction Medicine. In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to research, education, and policy development.

About the Role

This position is a blend of two roles funded under the Department of Health. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care to patients with substance use disorders. Your expertise will play a critical role in improving capacity to respond to alcohol and other drug presentations in the Emergency Department (ED).

  • Provide specialist AOD coverage in ED and consultation and liaison services throughout the hospital.
  • Improve linkages across departments involved in providing services to clients with AOD issues.
  • Implement AOD screening tools in ED.
  • Facilitate referrals to community-based services.
  • Provide AOD education and training within the emergency department.
  • Coordinate access to and follow-up for SSDTA-eligible clients.
Your Contribution
  • Nurse Practitioner – APHRA endorsed and registration which meets the registration requirements of the Nurses Board of Victoria in Division 1 or 3.
  • Minimum of 5 years clinical experience – preferably in the AOD or related sector.
  • Experience in Addiction Medicine and/or related fields.
  • Working knowledge of the SSDTA and the Victorian AOD service sector.
  • Closely work with the Access and Engagement Coordinator at Depaul House, Residential Withdrawal unit, to ensure that SSDTA clients are supported and managed optimally during their residential withdrawal stay.
  • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain.
