Emergency Department and Addiction Medicine Opportunities

This role presents a unique blend of two positions funded by the Department of Health, offering a challenging and rewarding work environment. The successful candidate will work in the Emergency Department on weekends and at the Department of Addiction Medicine outpatients on weekdays.

About This Opportunity
  • To extend specialist AOD coverage in ED & DoAM Consultation and Liaison clients throughout the hospital.
  • Improve linkages across SVHM departments involved in providing services to clients with AOD issues.
  • Implementation of the AOD screening tool in ED.
  • Facilitate referrals to appropriate community-based services.

The role also involves coordinating access to and follow-up for clients being considered for or receiving care under Severe Substance Dependent Treatment Act (SSDTA).

Your Expertise Required
  • A qualification in Nurse Practitioner – APHRA endorsed and registration meeting the Nurses Board of Victoria's Division 1 or 3 requirements.
  • A minimum of 5 years clinical experience, preferably in the AOD or related sector.
  • Experience in Addiction Medicine and/or related fields.
  • Working knowledge of SSDTA and the Victorian AOD service sector.
  • Collaborate closely with the Access and Engagement Coordinator at De Paul House to ensure optimal support and management during residential withdrawal stays.
