Job Overview:

Alchemy Recruitment Consulting is partnering with a local government organisation to fill a 6-month contract for an Animal Management Officer. The successful candidate will provide high-quality services related to animal management and compliance with relevant laws, ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigation and Response: The Animal Management Officer will investigate incidents involving animals, assess risks to public health, and handle animal captures and impounds as necessary to ensure community safety.
  • Evidence Collection: The officer will conduct thorough property history checks and gather factual evidence for compliance purposes.
  • Administration: Accurate records will be maintained in corporate systems, compliance notices issued, and court orders managed related to animal management.
  • Customer Service: The officer will provide high-quality service to stakeholders, promote responsible pet ownership, and effectively communicate with the community.
  • Teamwork and Development: A collaborative team environment will be fostered, with opportunities for continuous improvement, mentoring, and adherence to council standards and health and safety protocols.

Essential Requirements:

  • Prior experience or thorough knowledge of animal husbandry and animal control is essential, with a Certificate IV in Animal Management being advantageous.
  • The successful candidate will be able to work with animals of all behavior types, including anxious and aggressive animals, in a confident and safe manner.
  • The officer will conduct inspections and investigations to achieve successful outcomes in accordance with relevant laws and policies.
  • Proven time management skills and the ability to work independently, prioritizing workloads to ensure timely customer outcomes and legislative compliance.
