Job Title:

Project Management Officer Lead

The NSW Department of Customer Service is seeking a Project Management Officer Lead to support the delivery of its strategic roadmap. The team will consolidate and harmonise shared services operations and systems across the public sector, improving employee experience and efficiency.

The PMO Lead will ensure the program aligns with government and organisational goals. In the initiation phase, they will work closely with senior executives to establish standardised execution, including reporting on progress and developing budgets, timelines, and risks.

This role is crucial for maintaining project momentum, coordinating efforts, and ensuring objectives are met on time and within scope.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Raise and implement a common project management methodology, standards, tools, and systems
  • Manage the PMO governance, reporting, and review framework
  • Coordinate portfolio interdependencies
  • Identify and escalate strategic issues
  • Implement a best-practice governance model
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders
  • Enhance strategies for continuous monitoring and improvement

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a Project Management Office (PMO) lead role, ideally in large-scale transformation or transition programs
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with multiple workstreams and cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Suite, JIRA)
  • Expertise in program governance and reporting
  • Strong risk and issue management capabilities
  • Advanced communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
