Family Violence Specialist Practitioner

Our Family Violence Specialist Practitioner plays a crucial role in providing expert interventions for adolescents and their families affected by family violence.

This position involves working collaboratively with other team members to provide triage, assessment, group work, individual and/or family interventions, case management, and consultation to increase safety and reduce risk/harm to adolescents and their families.

The specialist practitioner reports operationally to the Team Leader of Family Violence and is clinically supported by the Senior Clinician KFS (Social Worker). This role sits within a dedicated Family Violence Service.

  • Triage and assessment of adolescents and their families experiencing family violence.
  • Delivery of Adolescent Violence Intervention and Treatment in the Home group work, focused interventions, and case management.
  • Consultation to increase safety and reduce risk/harm to adolescents and their families.
  • Outreach work and inter-agency collaboration are integral to this position.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A relevant graduate qualification in Social Work or related social sciences.
  • Experience in family violence triage, risk assessing, and safety planning with adolescents and family members.
  • Demonstrated skills in case management, individual and/or family work, care team participation, and inter-agency collaboration.
  • A strong understanding of current research-based knowledge of adolescent development, including emerging issues of concern for adolescents and recommended therapeutic practice approaches.
  • A current Victorian drivers licence, Working with Children Check, and a satisfactory police check.

This role requires flexibility and capability to work effectively in a changing environment. You will need to demonstrate commitment to continuous quality improvement and up-to-date evidence-based professional practice.
