At Ausenco, we are seeking a senior structural engineer with extensive experience in project delivery and team management to lead our Newcastle office. This role requires the ability to ensure that structural design deliverables meet industry standards and are completed within budget and time constraints.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure Structural Design Deliverables are completed according to industry standards, checked, approved, and issued to other disciplines and to clients with revision control documentation.
  2. Act in a client-facing role to lead and coordinate the activities of a project team to ensure time and budget objectives are achieved.
  3. Generate and review technical documents and deliverables.
  4. Prepare specifications, design criteria, scope of work, and material take-off lists.
  5. Prepare engineering proposals and monitor budgets, staying within assigned budgets and report any discrepancies.
  6. Complete tasks under minimal supervision ensuring that objectives of cost, quality, and time are met.
  7. Maintain a high level of communication with Project Managers / Engineering Managers and regularly inform them of technical activities, staffing, budgets, and schedules and explain reasons for actions taken.
  8. Contribute to the ongoing development of the Structural Engineering Team to deliver and implement best practice technical solutions by applying knowledge of industry developments and from experience.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in structural engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years' proven technical experience with an engineering consulting firm or other large organization, preferably in mining/construction projects.
  • Accreditation as a Chartered Engineer (or equivalent) or ability to obtain.
  • Strong design experience in brownfield environments is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in client-facing project management roles, leading design teams to deliver project outcomes.
  • Enhanced knowledge of relevant industry standards such as ISO, AS, ANSI, API etc.
  • Ability to mentor and support the development of structural engineers within the Ausenco team.
