Aboriginal Health Worker Position

We are seeking an Aboriginal Health Worker to join our team at the Mid North Coast Local Health District. This is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of our Aboriginal community.
About the RoleThe Aboriginal Health Worker will provide flexible, holistic, and culturally sensitive health services to our Aboriginal clients and the community. This will involve establishing and maintaining communication networks between health providers and the community, identifying health needs, and participating in health promotion programs.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and maintain communication networks between health providers and the community
- Identify health needs and develop strategies to address them
- Participate in health promotion programs and provide advice and information to clients
- Network and liaise with other service providers to ensure a coordinated approach to health service delivery
- Identify social and emotional wellbeing issues and refer and support as necessary
- Undertake administrative tasks, including maintenance of records and data collection
- Ensure that services are provided in ways that maximise cultural safety, acceptability, and respect
- Assist in the collection of health data as delegated by a health professional
- Work closely with other Health Professionals to enhance and support wholistic care for Aboriginal patients
- Aboriginal descent through parentage and identification as being Aboriginal
- Minimum Certificate III qualification in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or a minimum Certificate III health qualification in the area of care
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and historical contexts
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with Aboriginal individuals, families, and communities
- Knowledge of confidentiality, documentation, and information management
- Competent computer skills and current Driver's Licence
