Senior Aboriginal Health Worker Position

In this senior role, you will be responsible for coaching and supporting staff in their roles, leveraging your strong cultural knowledge and experience working with Aboriginal communities. The position involves home visiting with Mums, babies, and children across SWSLHD, providing cultural connection to the community.
The role works within a team of Child and Family Health Nurses, Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Social Workers, and closely with Community Health, NGOs, and government organizations in a culturally led program.
As a Senior Aboriginal Health Worker, you will be responsible for the provision of culturally safe, client-centered care coordination services to Aboriginal families within a Sustained Health Home visiting model.
You will work collaboratively with Child and Family Health Nurses, Social Workers, and other allied health staff to provide assessment, care coordination, and education to families, taking into account clinical, psychosocial, and cultural needs.
The position has leadership responsibilities, including staff supervision, intake and allocation, and coordination of cultural events, as well as facilitation of professional and cultural education for staff and active participation in service development activities.
South Western Sydney is a rapidly growing area with a diverse community, offering a great place for young people and families to build a life. The area is close to public transport, has a short drive to the beach, and is surrounded by natural wonders.
The position requires a strong understanding of the range of factors that have influenced the health status of Aboriginal communities, as well as the ability to inform and support the development of Aboriginal health programs and services.
The ideal candidate will possess an Australian C-Class driver's license and be able to work in partnership to provide optimal health outcomes for Aboriginal families.
