Engine Watchkeeper
As a critical member of our vessel operations team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our ship's engine and mechanical equipment. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain the operational capabilities of the vessel's propulsion, auxiliary, and ancillary machinery. You will also be responsible for maintaining self-unloading machinery and equipment, ensuring their efficient and effective operation in accordance with planned maintenance requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain engine room operations, including conducting regular rounds and performing tasks as required by the Chief Engineer;
- Conduct deck maintenance and rounds on rotation as required by the Chief Engineer;
- Ensure the proper functioning of propulsion, auxiliary, and ancillary machinery to ensure efficient and effective vessel operation;
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on self-unloading machinery and equipment;
- Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in marine engineering, with relevant experience working as an Engine Watchkeeper. The following qualifications are essential:
- A Certificate of Competency (CoC) or Certificate of Recognition (CoR) Unlimited for AMSA Marine Order 72 – Engineer Class 3;
- At least 6 months of sea time as an Engine Watchkeeper;
- Completion of Safety Training (STCW) is desirable;
- Work Safely at Heights Certification is desirable;
- Enter and Work in Confined Space Certification is desirable;
- Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) eligibility or possession;
- Australian citizenship or unrestricted working rights within Australia.
