Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Solicitor with expertise in Charity Law to provide legal advice and support on an ad-hoc basis.

This individual will report directly to our General Counsel, liaising with them and Paralegals to ensure timely completion of required actions within mutually agreed timeframes.

The Solicitor will provide key support to the General Counsel, presenting comprehensive legal advice and support to the CEO and Board of Directors/Trustees around key legal issues.

They will also support the development of long-term strategies, including supporting the advancement of the Charity and any commercial subsidiaries.

Additionally, the Solicitor will develop and lead legal training where appropriate, prepare documents, evidence, arguments, and identify legal precedents to justify the organisation's decisions and actions.

They will act as a point of contact for the organisation in relation to any legal matters or action.

The Solicitor will also support keeping the organisation up to date and informed of new and existing laws and regulations applicable to our operations and industry.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A qualified solicitor or recognised legal professional with recent experience providing legal advice and support to charities or companies.
  • Experience as a solicitor or legal professional within the non-profit/charity sector is essential.
  • Detailed knowledge of specific laws and regulations pertaining to our industry and local laws within Australia.
  • Ability to interpret and convey complex legal information in an understandable format.
  • Public speaking skills and the ability to present and defend legal arguments.
