About this role

We are seeking an experienced Solicitor to join our team. This individual will provide legal advice and support to help us expand our charitable activities globally.

The successful candidate will report directly to our General Counsel and work on a part-time basis, approximately 3 hours per week. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people across the UK and Australia.

Key responsibilities

  • Liaise with our General Counsel and Paralegals to ensure timely completion of actions that support our growth.
  • Provide comprehensive legal advice and support to our CEO and Board of Directors/Trustees on key legal issues.
  • Support the development of long-term strategies to advance our charity and commercial subsidiaries.
  • Develop and lead legal training sessions where appropriate.
  • Prepare documents, evidence, arguments, and identify legal precedents to justify our decisions and actions.
  • Act as a point of contact for any legal matters or actions affecting the organization.
  • Keep the organization up-to-date and informed about new and existing laws and regulations relevant to our operations and industry.

Requirements

  • A qualified Solicitor or recognized legal professional with recent experience in providing legal advice and support to charities or companies in Australia.
  • Experience as a Solicitor or legal professional in the non-profit sector is essential.
  • Detailed knowledge of specific laws and regulations pertinent to our industry and local laws in Australia.
  • Ability to interpret and convey complex legal information in an understandable format.
  • Public speaking skills and the ability to present and defend legal arguments.
