Senior Legal Advisor Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Senior Legal Advisor, providing legal support to investigations, inspections and other regulatory activity conducted under the Work Health and Safety Act.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing expert legal advice on evidence gathering, issuing statutory notices and investigation procedures
  • Assisting with the preparation of briefs of evidence for prosecutions
  • Collaborating with external agencies, including the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions and Inspectors during prosecutions
  • Facilitating continuous improvement projects and identifying trends and capability opportunities for inspectors

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Australian qualified legal practitioner with at least five years post-admission experience
  • Current restricted practising Certificate or ability to obtain one within three months

Eligibility and Specific Conditions of Employment:

  • Character clearance (Australian Criminal History Check)
  • Employee Health Declaration
  • Six months probationary period for new engagements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 Security Clearance
