
Leading Digital Surveillance Operations

This role is responsible for delivering electronic surveillance products in support of AFP operations. The team works with a variety of law enforcement information acquired under the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979 (Cth) and related legislation.
About This RoleThe Electronic Surveillance Analyst Team Leader will be responsible for leading a geographically diverse and multidisciplinary team, ensuring operational support is delivered, and priorities align with strategic organisational outcomes. They will maintain a sound understanding of criminal investigation practices & procedures, intelligence processes, the capabilities of CTO and the wider AFP technical centres and collections.
The Team Leader will contribute to the enhancement and future direction of the ESAT capability by identifying and leading various project work, innovation efforts, and improving customer service. They will also mentor and develop members to enable mastery, teamwork, and purpose in the performance of their functions;
This role includes:
- Demonstrating strong leadership to ensure operational support is delivered and priorities align with strategic organisational outcomes.
- Maintaining a sound understanding of criminal investigation practices & procedures, intelligence processes, the capabilities of CTO and the wider AFP technical centres and collections.
- Contributing to the enhancement and future direction of the ESAT capability by identifying and leading various project work, innovation efforts, and improving customer service.
To succeed in this role, you will require:
- A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
- Demonstrated ability to lead diverse and geographically dispersed team, deliver specialist support capabilities including mentoring and developing team members.
- Ability to be flexible and dynamic in response to changing priorities.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communications skills with the ability to manage and build relationships with diverse and complex stakeholder groups.
- Ability to successfully complete an annual psychological screening specific to this position.
