Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO)

We are looking for a skilled professional to join our Digital Division. The successful candidate will work in the Digital Capabilities & Commercial department, enabling the delivery of AEMO's obligations through technology and improving outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Advise Digital cost centre owners on financial planning, budgeting, and costing using recognised accounting practices and standards.
  • Work with cost centre owners and the Finance Business Partner to develop and align on financial budgets, plans, and forecasts.
  • Monitor and manage expenditure, examining areas where expenditure exceeds agreed tolerances.
  • Manage operational relationships with Digital suppliers, ensuring potential disputes or conflicts are raised and resolved.
  • Implement Digital supplier service improvement actions, identifying constraints and opportunities when negotiating or renegotiating contracts.
  • Develop the workforce planning approach for Digital in line with strategic business goals.
  • Forecast future workforce demand and training for skills based on business plans and external factors.
  • Maintain the SFIA skills and capability inventory, identifying options for closing gaps in collaboration with relevant key stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Skills & Experience
  • Strong experience in real-time, business-critical technology environments in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrable experience in contract management, process improvement, and/or project management.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of IT budgeting, cost management, and financial planning to manage IT spending effectively.
  • Managing complexity and competing priorities. Decision making in ambiguity.
  • Strong leadership experience and success in developing individuals and teams.
  • Building relationships and trust with all levels.
  • Managing budgets and controlling costs.
  • Risk awareness and management of risks within roles' control.

Education/Professional Certifications

  • Tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in an appropriate commerce, accounting, business, or similar qualification.
  • Relevant security clearance as advised.
