The University of Adelaide is a world-renowned institution seeking a visionary leader to drive commercial growth and innovation. As the Commercial Opportunities Manager, you will play a pivotal role in harnessing the university's research potential and translating it into impactful commercial outcomes.

Salary: $128,217-$137,173 per annum plus 17% superannuation.

About the Role:

This is an outstanding career opportunity for a talented professional who can lead our efforts in translating world-class research into commercially focused support. You will be responsible for engaging with university researchers, industry partners, government stakeholders, regulators, venture capitalists, and other funding providers to assist in managing the university's intellectual property and equity portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To identify potential partners and outcomes to effectively secure commercial deals;
  • To develop and deliver strategies in a complex multi-stakeholder environment;
  • To have a strong understanding of intellectual property protection processes and procedures;
  • To have direct experience in executing commercial agreements;
  • To demonstrate the ability to use different leadership techniques to persuade, negotiate, motivate, and drive transactions as a team player;
  • To possess highly developed verbal and written communication skills, including experience in delivering presentations and preparing reports.

Requirements:

  • A resilient self-starter with hands-on approach skills in a less structured environment;
  • A strong track record in identifying, coordinating, delivering to deadline, and enhancing strategies in a complex multi-stakeholder environment;
  • An understanding of intellectual property protection processes and procedures;
  • Direct experience in executing commercial agreements;
  • Demonstrated ability to use different leadership techniques to persuade, negotiate, motivate, and drive transactions as a team player;
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, including experience in delivering presentations and preparing reports.
