Private Credit within Asset & Wealth Management
Goldman Sachs Asset & Wealth Management's Private Credit division stands as one of the largest platforms for alternative credit investments globally, with approximately $100 billion in assets under management and professionals located across the US, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
This dynamic platform encompasses a wide range of activities, from direct lending (including middle market and large-cap performing credit) to opportunistic and structured investments across both debt and equity. Our teams are tasked with originating, executing, and managing investments across a comprehensive array of credit strategies, deploying our senior, mezzanine, and hybrid funds alongside the firm's balance sheet.
Analysts play a crucial role within small deal teams, focusing on identifying investment opportunities, conducting thorough due diligence, structuring and executing transactions, and monitoring investments across various industries and capital structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Coverage and Origination: Assist in generating investment ideas across the Credit product suite through early engagement with relevant stakeholders.
- Due Diligence and Execution: Participate in all facets of due diligence, including financial, legal, commercial, technical, and ESG assessments, to refine investment theses; Engage in structuring, negotiating, and documenting investment deals.
- Effectively communicate and advocate for investment theses to internal stakeholders and committees.
- Investment Monitoring & Exits: Proactively oversee existing portfolio investments, serving as an observer on company boards and maintaining regular communication with management teams and shareholders.
- Establish and nurture relationships with founders, sponsors, management teams, and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or leveraged finance and private credit roles.
- Strong academic background with a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, or equivalent in Finance, Economics, Management, Business Studies, Industrial Engineering, or a related field from a prestigious institution.
- Exceptional quantitative, financial modeling, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- A genuine passion for investing and analyzing diverse businesses and industries.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A flexible and innovative mindset, capable of analyzing various industries and business models.
- Ability to work independently, analyze, evaluate, and form independent judgments.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with a diverse range of individuals.
