Private Credit within Asset & Wealth Management
Goldman Sachs' Private Credit division is recognized as one of the largest alternative credit investing platforms globally, managing approximately $100 billion in assets. Our investment professionals operate across the US, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
This dynamic platform encompasses a wide range of investment strategies, from direct lending in middle-market and large-cap performing credit to opportunistic and structured investments across both debt and equity.
Our teams are tasked with originating, executing, and managing investments across a diverse array of credit strategies, deploying our senior, mezzanine, and hybrid funds alongside the firm's balance sheet. Senior and Mezzanine strategies primarily invest alongside leading financial sponsors in support of leveraged buyout transactions, targeting EBITDA from $10 million to over $100 million across various sectors. Hybrid Capital offers flexible capital solutions for businesses seeking non-control alternatives to traditional private equity or growth equity.
Key Responsibilities
- Coverage and Origination: Assist in generating investment ideas across the Credit product suite through early engagement with relevant stakeholders.
- Due Diligence and Execution: Participate in comprehensive due diligence (financial, legal, commercial, technical, ESG) and business analysis to refine investment theses; engage in structuring, negotiating, and documenting investments.
- Effectively communicate and defend investment theses to internal stakeholders and committees.
- Investment Monitoring & Exits: Actively oversee existing portfolio investments, serving as an observer on company boards and maintaining regular communication with management teams and shareholders.
- Establish and nurture relationships with founders, sponsors, management teams, and internal Goldman Sachs stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or leveraged finance roles.
- Strong academic background with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Management, Business Studies, Industrial Engineering, or a related field from a reputable institution.
- Proficient quantitative, financial modeling, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Genuine passion for investing and analyzing various businesses and industries.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
- Flexible and innovative mindset, capable of analyzing diverse industries and businesses.
- Ability to work independently, evaluate, and form sound judgments.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with a wide range of individuals.
