Lead Ostomy and Continence Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Nurse Consultant to provide expert clinical leadership and consultation in the assessment, management, and education of patients with ostomies, continence issues, and trial of void strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Stomal Therapy and Continence team in delivering high-quality patient care and education.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care and optimize health outcomes.
  • Educate and train healthcare professionals and patients on best practices in ostomy care, continence management, and skin integrity.
  • Employ a high level of clinical knowledge and judgment to ensure superior delivery of holistic care to inpatients.
  • Manage the nurse-led Stomal Therapy Outpatient Clinic and Trial of Void Clinic.
  • Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement, and research projects related to Trial of Void protocols and continence and ostomy care.
About You:
  • You are currently registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency.
  • You have at least 5 years of full-time equivalent post-registration experience and approved post-registration nursing qualifications relevant to Stomal Therapy/Continence Nursing or such other qualifications deemed appropriate by your employer.
  • You have demonstrated leadership ability working in a multidisciplinary healthcare team with a comprehensive understanding of clinical governance and current nursing issues.
  • You have demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking, and analysis in your daily practice in your current role.
  • You have effective time management skills and the ability to prioritize competing workloads within a complex environment.
