Job Title: Aps 5 Program Officer - Veterans Employment

About the Role: As a Policy/Program Officer with the Department of Veterans Affairs, you will play a critical role in delivering policy, program and services that support veterans.

About You: To succeed in this role, you will draw on your knowledge of policy development and program delivery, as well as your ability to work effectively with stakeholders. You should have a strong understanding of veteran issues and be able to quickly acquire an understanding of the veteran support system. Experience in costing new policy proposals is also highly desirable.

Your Responsibilities: You will need to be curious and flexible, able to thrive in a rapidly-changing environment and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. Your excellent organisational skills, including the ability to effectively prioritise to meet deadlines, manage competing tasks and demonstrated initiative and problem solving skills, will be essential in delivering against program objectives.

Benefits: The successful candidate will have the ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) clearance to Baseline status and be willing to conduct overnight travel as required. A current Australian Driver's License is also mandatory.

  • Provide high-quality written and verbal policy advice to the Government, Minister and Executive in relation to veterans' issues.
  • Support the delivery of the Veteran Employment Program, including managing the day-to-day operation of the Veterans' Employment Commitment.
  • Triage and manage group mailboxes, including responding to moderately complex enquiries and requests for information.
  • Support procurement processes and ongoing contract management requirements.
  • Support the broader team in delivery of section and branch priorities.
