Community Mental Health Support Worker

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Community Mental Health Support Worker to join our team at nrmjoEnvironmental jobs, NRM. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to make a positive impact in the lives of Indigenous women and contribute to the vision of the Strong Women for Healthy Country Network.
About the Role
The successful candidate will provide mental health support services to women caring for Country throughout the Northern Territory, including those impacted by domestic violence, alcohol and other drugs, and incarceration. They will work closely with our team to deliver mental health first aid training, create safe spaces for support staff and mentors, and assist employers in creating safer and more respectful workplaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide in-person, over the phone, and virtual counseling and mediation services to women caring for Country.
- Deliver mental health first aid training to caring for Country support staff and mentors.
- Create safe spaces for support staff and mentors to connect and share their experiences.
- Support the delivery of regional healing camps and workshops.
- Assist employers in creating safer and more respectful workplaces.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have a tertiary qualification in a relevant field, possession of or the ability to obtain mental health first aid instructor accreditation, eligibility for APS, AASW, or equivalent counselor/therapist professional memberships, and experience living or working in a remote community.
Desirable Skills
- Experience delivering mental health first aid training.
- Experience working for an Aboriginal-controlled organization.
- Experience working in the not-for-profit sector.
- Experience and/or training in mediation and/or conflict resolution.
What We Offer
This role offers a competitive salary of $85,000 - $95,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package, including superannuation, annual leave, and professional development opportunities.
