Job Role Overview

The Design Engineer plays a pivotal role in delivering innovative stormwater solutions as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing high-quality stormwater models and designs to facilitate specification, costing, planning, and delivery of stormwater management systems in compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Liaising closely with internal presales engineers, engineering, and production personnel as part of a national team.
  • Utilizing AutoCAD and MUSIC modelling software for design tasks.
  • Ensuring all specifications and designs comply with Local/State/federal codes and accepted engineering practices.
  • Maintaining active communication with contractors, engineers, surveyors, and government agencies regarding engineering, surveying, or construction issues.
  • Representing the company professionally at events, conferences, and client sites.
  • Collaborating with internal engineering and technical support staff.
  • Developing a close working relationship with the Engineering Manager and the rest of the team.
  • Creating stormwater quality designs for products and services.
About You

We seek a candidate with:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 0–4 years of experience, with at least 2–3 years of engineering design skill experience in AutoCAD and, if possible, stormwater modelling software MUSIC.
  • Previous design experience.
  • Preferably experience in stormwater/wastewater projects.
  • A positive attitude and drive to succeed.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team player approach.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex written and oral instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to decipher information and employ strategies to problem solve.
  • Ability to clearly communicate information verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and methods, preferably applicable to Storm Water Drainage Systems.
  • Knowledge of public works engineering and Storm Water Drainage System operations.
  • Ability to retrieve and understand current codes and regulatory standards governing regional engineering activities of stormwater construction, renovations, and maintenance projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with drafting software such as AutoCAD and water modelling tools like MUSIC.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with company personnel, management, contractors, consultants, and clients.
