Design Engineer Job Description

As a Design Engineer, you will play a vital role in delivering innovative stormwater solutions in a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality stormwater models and designs for specification, costing, planning, and delivery of stormwater management systems in compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with internal presales engineers, engineering, and production personnel as part of a national team.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and MUSIC modelling software for design tasks.
  • Maintain active communication with contractors, engineers, surveyors, and government agencies regarding engineering, surveying, or construction issues.
  • Represent the company professionally at events, conferences, and client sites.
  • Train, learn, and coordinate with internal engineering and technical support staff.
  • Develop a close working relationship with the Engineering Manager and the rest of the team.
  • Model and complete stormwater quality designs for products and services.
About the Role
  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field is required.
  • 0–4 years of experience, with at least 2–3 years of engineering design skill experience in AutoCAD and stormwater modelling software MUSIC.
  • Previous design experience is essential.
  • Preferably experience in stormwater/wastewater projects.
  • A positive work attitude and a drive to succeed are key.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team player approach are necessary.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex written and oral instructions is crucial.
  • Demonstrated ability to decipher information and employ strategies to appropriately problem solve.
  • Ability to clearly communicate information both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and methods is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with drafting software like AutoCAD and water modelling tools is essential.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, management, contractors, consultants, and clients.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work well in a team environment, and have a strong background in civil engineering.
