Project Accountant Job Description

A leading property development organization is seeking a skilled Project Accountant to join their finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for project accounting across multiple developments, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting and partnering with development and analyst teams.

The role involves:

  • Managing monthly general ledger reconciliations, journals, cost transfers and revenue adjustments
  • Assisting with annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and accurate project reporting
  • Providing JV and partner reporting on project costs
  • Partnering with external consultants to ensure compliance with tax, audit and reporting obligations
  • Monitoring debtor and creditor balances and ensuring ledger accuracy
  • Supporting project settlements with financial analysis and tracking
  • Preparing capital calls and drawdown notices as required
  • Contributing to process improvements across finance and reporting functions
  • Ensuring all internal and external reporting deadlines are met

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualification with CPA or CA (or working towards)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in accounting, ideally within property development or financial services
  • Strong technical accounting skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to partner with stakeholders at all levels
  • Organised, methodical and able to manage multiple priorities under deadlines
  • Proactive, commercially astute and solutions-focused with a 'can-do' mindset
  • High digital competence, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (experience with Business Central an advantage)
