About the Role

Council is seeking a motivated professional with suitable qualifications and experience to join our Environmental Management team and implement best practice management for the control of Priority weeds and preservation of our local natural resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake weed inspections within Council's road network and on private properties.
  • Identify weeds and implement control measures.
  • Provide specialist technical expertise in relation to weed control techniques.
  • Assist with re-vegetation programs and vegetation management duties.
  • Develop and deliver education programs.
  • Build strong relationships and networks with land holders and other stakeholders.
  • Operate and maintain Council's plant and equipment.
Requirements
  • Qualifications relevant to the role, such as Horticulture, Conservation, or similar related discipline.
  • Substantial experience relevant to the role, including identification of weeds and native plants, operation of powered weed spraying equipment, labouring outdoors for extended periods of time, operation of vehicles off-road, experience maintaining small motors and equipment.
  • Strong time management and communication skills.
  • Class LR Driver's Licence, or willingness to obtain.
  • AQF Level 3 Chemical Handling Accreditation.
  • General Construction Induction Training Card.
  • SafeWork NSW Implement Traffic Control Plans (IMP) or willingness to obtain.
  • Chainsaw Operation Cross Cut / Felling (Desirable).
